About the Choir

MRSC Choir - Red Coats

The Munster Rugby Supporters Club Choir was formed in April 2008, the first provincial rugby choir of its kind in Ireland and to date the only rugby choir comprised of members exclusively drawn from a Supporters Club.

The MRSC Choir currently has 45 members, who hail from all over the province of Munster and beyond. Many members have never sung in a choir before, but all are fine singers with a strong work ethic and, most importantly, all are dedicated followers of Munster Rugby. Since its first performance at the official opening of Thomond Park before Munster's match against the All Blacks in November 2008, the Choir has strived continuously to develop a more varied, challenging and diverse repertoire. While rugby anthems form a fundamental part of the music the Choir sings, our repertoire extends way beyond that, from choral classics to contemporary pop songs and everything in between.

Each season the Choir enjoys a varied calendar of events. In addition to singing on the pitch before home matches in Thomond Park and Irish Independent Park and supporting MRSC events, the Choir also supports local and national charities, singing at fundraising events and concerts. The Choir has performed in Cork Opera House, UCH Limerick as well as on the Late Late Show and has sung with notable artists including Cara O'Sullivan, The Celtic Tenors and Jean Wallace.

In 2017, the MRSC Choir travelled to New York for the St Patrick's Day celebrations. The highlights of the trip were marching in the St Patrick's Day Parade, headlining a packed out concert and performing in the Irish Consulate.

In the summer of 2017 Robbie Pender joined the Choir as Musical Director. Now based in Cork, Robbie originally hails from Waterford. He is a graduate of CIT Cork School of Music where he achieved a first class honours degree. Aside from conducting, Robbie is an accomplished singer and pianist, appearing regularly with national and international ensembles. His career has already seen performances in Canada, the BBC Proms and countless venues in between.
